Harbor Court Toastmasters (#1886) chartered in December of 1960…a merger of two Downtown Toastmasters Clubs—San Diego Harbor Toastmasters and Courthouse Toastmasters. The club originally consisted of lawyers and government employees who met in the conference room of the Spreckels Theatre Building located on Broadway. Eventually, the club moved their meetings to the 8th floor conference room of the County Administration Building tower on the San Diego Bay waterfront.

In 2005, Harbor Court Toastmasters moved to the Alliance for African Assistance (a refugee resettlement organization) and currently meet at the Alliance’s Safari Seconds Thrift Store located at 6533 El Cajon Blvd in San Diego (College Area). This area flourishes, rich in diverse cultures which you’ll see reflected in the blended makeup of our Club!

During Covid, like many clubs in the Toastmasters International organization, Harbor Court needed to “pivot”. Unable to meet in person, the club resumed meetings online for three years. We returned to the Alliance for African Assistance as a hybrid club—both in-person and online—in December 2023! We continue HCTM’s mission to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication & leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
